    Howdy from the left side

Been lurking for quite a while soaking in all the great information from the world class fishermen who contribute to sportsfishermen. It's a bit intimidating to say the least.

But I believe folks like to see pictures of fish from all parts and get exposed to the way others do it. There's always something new to learn.

I live in Southern California and target halibut when the pelagics aren't around. We slow troll the bottom with an old school technique called "bounceballing". It really works. A legal fish must be 22 inches and is about 4 years old going maybe 5lbs.

Here's some pictures of a good day out of Dana Point last week. 6 legal fish with two in the 30lb class with a total weight of 116lbs.

I'll post our adventures in the proper fishing reports section next time. Hope that's OK because I'm not a charter captain, just a normal guy who loves to fish.....if you'll have me that is

Hi All and thanks for the warm welcome!!!

We don't get into the flatties like that every day, but we always have a good time trying.

Capt. Mike, we troll at 2 mph give or take a bit due to the current. The target bait is a 6 inch hoochie with a white grub tail bridled into a trap rig 13 inches behind the dodger. No need for bait. Sometimes they get confused and hit the dodger
