Yeah I hate seeing someone get bashed because they like to share. I guess you enjoy it.

Take your pick... Theres a load of sites that seem to condone and encourage that stuff. The community here at SFC is made up of good people who are here to share info in a field they truly love. ITs not some place for bashing, derailing, or utter nonsense that goes on elsewhere.
I consider the people here among the best there is. This site is first rate. Our Administrator works hard at building this great community and keeping a clean house and most of us respect that...

About 15 years ago I was in a midsummer slump while mating for Capt Jay Champlin (Blaine's dad, and truly one of the most all around talented people I have ever fished with, period) I was ready to pull my hair out (back when I had it). I wanted to change things up and Jay told me that when you have something that you know works behind your boat, stick with it. That way when the bad luck streak is over you will have the right stuff out to put the hurting on them. It was only a day or so later that we caught 5 out of 7 whites, followed the next day by 3/4 whites and a blue one. All with the same spread that we couldn't catch our own ass with 3 days earlier. Stick with what you know. That is the best plan.
I had a less than stellar OC tuna tourney this year, and was down on myself pretty bad. My charter (with Snowranger from this board) was at Harborside a week later and I caught up with them to have a drink. I apologized again to one of the guys from the group, and he responded like this. He asked me if I was a Nascar Fan. I told him no. He then asked me if I knew who Earnhardt was. I said yes. He then told me that Little E doesn't win every race he drives in, sometimes he even crashes and doesn't finish the race. But he is still a great Nascar driver. He may not have realized it at the time, but that was one of the greatest compliments a charter could ever give me. It is easy to praise someone when you have a great day, but to tell someone you appreciate their efforts and trust in their abilities and methods after a bad showing, is the true compliment.
Deep, don't second guess yourself my friend, just get back at it and have some fun!!!
well ..since fishin and golf are both forms of enjoyment .....i will offer these words.......{GOLF......when you first start out...G.O.L.F...game of leisurely fun}...alas....when you get good and know whats it's all about it does change and {GOLF becomes.....G.O.L.F.....game of luck & frustration}...so...hence pro golfers grind......when i figure out an acronym for fishin i will post it.......anyway.....aint nothin easy....>>>>>>just my 2 cents....

You don't have to win all the battles to win the war, i'd rather be consistant than a one time hero.
For those who don't fathom the words of my previous post that means you ain't got to win every tournament just stay consistant in the ones you fish that says you are good enough. Take a breath Deep and regroup man.
Its that consistent stuff I'm trying to get back to... I'll be pre fishing the next couple days... Just for fun... I'll see if I can dial in during them...![]()
Well, I guess I have a couple of stories on this. Recently, I fished the Eastern Shore Marlin Club Billfish Tourney out of Wachapreague. We won it last year and really wanted to repeat. I pulled my usual marlin spread of 4 dink baits, 2 blue marlin baits and a meatfish bait for good measure. It produced a white on the first day and a blue on the second (which we pulled off). It was not a red hot bite and that ended up getting us third overall (on time). I had a guy on the boat that must have asked me 20 times to change up the spread...I refused him all 20 times. That spread has won me some trophies and $ and I am not going to change it cause that's the spread I am confident in. Now, go back 3 years to the WMO...fished all three days, only raised two whites and didn't catch either of those. I began to doubt everything...even talked about changing the wheels on the boat (sure, throw $9000 at the problem). Thank God I didn't change anything...went out the very next weekend and went 3 for 5 on whites and caught a few yellowfin and longfin to throw on top of that. Just goes to prove, somedays you drive over them and somedays you don't...and somedays you can troll right next to a boat that is getting eaten alive and you can't buy a bite! Do what you always do, what you have confidence in and you will break out of that slump with a vengeance.
