    how I met my wife

    Since it's valentines day I thought I'd tell y'all a love story

It all started with a boat. I was hellbent on buying a 27 contender. Problem was I didn't have enough money to buy the boat. That's when I started thinking....

My house was cool- hot tub, foozeball table, kingsize bed in the middle of my bedroom that I named "Paradise Island". I was a wannabe player but I had my moments.
Anyway, I decided that if I got a roomate, the rent would be enough to make my boat payment
Hmmmmm....If I got a roomate, it might as well be a young hot single girl Even better- A hot girl with a dog! that way she wouldn't mind feeding mine while I was out fishing. Brilliant!

I was 33 at the time and decided she needed to be 24 - 30 years old. The more I thought about it, the more I imagined all her friends coming over wearing skimpy little outfits and having pillow fights etc... Wow!
So I posted a few ads on the internet and told everyone what I was looking for in a roomate and after a few rejects....low and behold Emily shows up. 26year old hottie with a basset hound. Perfect!!! I even rented her the master bedroom to get an additional $50 rent.

    I bought my boat!

Although the boat thing was working, the girl thing wasn't going as planned turns out she was a "nice" girl with a really dorky boyfriend and her only friends that came over were as big as giant bluefin . I wasn't really attracted to roomie at all so when we were hanging out, I would tell her all my stories....everything We became pretty good friends and she ended up getting another job and moved 1hr away and broke up with her boyfriend.
Well, I guess she got kinda homesick and I sure wasn't complaining one night when she showed back up....

Next thing I know (1 year later), it's sunset and I'm on my knee on the deck of HOTROD MARLIN with a ring in my hand.

That was 2 years ago and now we got the little one on the way and the boat is for sale

    Things sure change fast!
Writing this makes me think that maybe I oughta keep my boat.....

Seems to me that the reason you got your wife is because of the boat - I don't see how you could possibly let it go...

    Great story BTW.

Cool story, but keep the boat. It's a kid, not a death sentence. My little girl grew up on boats and the beach. She's now 19 years-old and still loves the boat and the water.

My story is the opposite. Got the wife first, then the boat, still waiting for the divorce. Buying the boat while the wife was pregnant was probably not the best idea. But hey, when the right deal comes along.

In my defense; I've been around boat all my life, and I had several small ones when we got married. She can't even swim, so there's some obstacles to overcome.

Hotrodmarlin, you did it right. And yes, keep the boat. Boats in a marriage are a lot like gun rights in New York. Once you give them up, you ain't gettin' 'em back.

Only let the boat go if you're getting a bigger one!
That baby will be on the water in 3 years... It's my 4 kids that keep me fishin'.
Mom adapts and kids learn more about life on the water than at school!
    Good luck with # 1.

You know, I grew up around boats and the beach. Mom loved to fish and clam. She passed away a year ago at age 80, and never learned to swim. Not an obstacle.
