How do you bring your gear on vacation?

In another month or so I will be taking a vacation to Mexico for a week where I plan on fishing for at least 6 out of the 7 days I'm there (my girlfriend loves it when I say that....see you on the plane ride home honey...lol). Anyway, I wanted to get everyone's input on the ways that they bring their gear when they travel. I have tried a number of products out there including the shimano backpack that has the three plano-type boxes underneath, and the wfo hard backpack. The trouble is, I haven't found something that works all that well- the shimano bag collapses as soon as you take a plano box out, and a buckle on the wfo bag broke and the company didn't stand behind it. So when you are travelling to distant shores, how do you bring your various whatchamacallits and doodads? Any and all comments would be a big help.
    Thanks for the help,

If you have 2 pc rods you can put them in a hard gun case and duct tape that shut. 1 pc rods you can put them in a 4" PVC tube.
