House republicans to cut aid, yet increase spending on military?

At 7 times the size of the closest military budget, the only big stick is the one you guys took up the butt thinking those repubs cared about balancing a budget.

If they cut 43 billion in "aid" and increase 8 billion in military and defense, WE the tax payer's are still 35 billion to the good. Sound's like a good start! Frank

From what I was reading, the republicans are only choosing from about 10% of the overall budget rather that the ENTIRE problem. Not very good priorities to me. And the first to cut is teachers/schools. Go figure.

It's obvious that what you do for a living does not require much brain power. The thread opener had no cut and paste and my opinion that a military that is 7 times bigger than the worlds next closest does not need more money was clear to all, even those like you with double digit IQ's.

Now speaking of going into other countries to help.....this may ruffle a few feathers. If you look at the big picture, this country, no matter the president only goes into other poor countries that "need help" from us, are the countries we can benefit from. We are only looking for strategic standpoints or natural resources to make us stronger. This country likes to put a twist in the media to make it seem like we are helping because we want to, and not because it is morally right. There are countries I could count on my hands and toes that really need help but we are not there because they are no good to us or we are afraid that another country(powerful) might get mad. If everyone would peel back a few layers of the onion and put political feelings aside it is all there. I am not bashing this country, just stating the facts. This is not the only one that does it, but we are the richest with the largest military so many times we get first dibs.

What I would like to know is that if we are so broke that we have to cut teachers and schools (which are desperately needed evidenced by some of the posts here) why do we need to spend more on a military that is already 7 times bigger than the one that is 2nd in line. Sounds to me that the cuts are no more than the repubs pandering. If we really need cuts then we NEED to cut from the biggest budget first and that would be the military. Although speak softly and carry a big stick sounds good, our stick is now so big no one can carry it. Remember, it was NOT Reagan who doomed the Soviet Union, it was their huge military budget.

I think we need to do something like Egypt, clean house, and start over....since all our politicians are so supportive of Mazarac (or whatever his name is) stepping down, they should be willing to step down themselves if we can get a few thousand people to march on Washington.....just thinking out loud.....

The article was written by a Brit who was wondering outloud what may have happened if the million plus British citizens who marched into Trafalgar Square in England on the eve of the Iraq War invasion had merely stayed there like the Egyptians did instead of dissipating after a few hours like they actually did. Of course, more than a million innocents have now been killed because of that war.

I protested here too, first time in my life, for the lies that were being told by Bush were so desparately transparent to absolutely anyone with a brain and the will to use it. But I didn't and no one else to my knowledge simply stayed put afterwards.

I guess our convictions weren't as strong as those in Egypt. They succeeded. We failed. A million died and a country was wrecked, as a result of our temerity.

So, I'm with you, BFB. If you're gonna feel strongly enough about something to demonstrate do so in a fashion that has at least half a chance to change something. Else, it's of little use other than simply throwing a tantrum.

Oh, and equating stupid with being a GC...you dont come close to knowing what it takes to be a certified GC,and the knowledge it takes in math/business law/structure loads /codes/ along with a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, construction science & building science..so stop talking out your blowhole,fool.
