Many of you may not know that I am associated with the Department that handled this incident. I could not be prouder of how my colleagues handled this situation. Until you have been involved in these types of incidents you can’t imagine the amount of coordination that takes place. Beyond dealing with the suspect, the hostages, civilians and bombs you have the heat, traffic issues, an urban environment and a population that really does not like the police. The swift and decisive actions of everyone involved brought this to a positive resolution.
Once the subject was identified my wife who was involved in his 2008 Discovery arrest told me that negotiations would be useless because he was not rationale. He had no interest in being talked out.
Everyone has been praising the police and it has been nice to hear good things about the police in the news for once.
