HI Honeymoon in Oahu, HI (Information Needed)

I'll be going on my honeymoon in Oahu at the end of October. Does anyone have any good charters they can reccomend? Or any other advice for the area? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Congratulations Matt. A Hawaiian honey moon should be a great start to your marriage.
Captain John has worked Hawaii and Reel Fool is still working there. Not sure what ports, but they may be able to provide some referrals. Both are active members here.
Good luck to you and take lots of pictures!

Most of the really good fishing is out of Kona on the Big Island. There is a marina by Ala Mona close to Wakiki. Also on the North Shore by Halewia. Boats run out of both. Good luck. Have fun I used to go to Hawaii every winter. I miss it sometimes!

I don't know how tight your schedule will be in Hawaii, but you can jump a plane in Honolulu to Kona for about $150 roundtrip - You could possibly do a day trip, or take a second day and go see the volcano

Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Air are pretty reasonable - the flight takes about 45 mins.

I've fished on a couple of boats and can recommend Jerry Allen on Sea Dancer.

There are also a couple of members - Captain Jeff Kirby (reel_fool) who charter out of Kona.

You'll find the rates pretty reasonable - No long run to the fishing grounds - expect $400 - $900/day

    Thumbs up Hawaii honeymoon

My bride & I honeymooned in Hawaii in Jan 2000. You will have a great time...we sure did. Try to get a couple of days on Big Island...that's where the epic waters of Kona lie. Cheap island hoppers fly between the islands throughout the day.

We also booked 2-days with Capt Jerry Allen and his diesel-powered 31 Bertram, Sea Dancer. Great boat, great crew and numerous large fish. My wife released her 1st blue marlin on that trip and we've been happy boat-owners & fisher-folk ever since.

    Congrat's !

Thanks guys, somehow I figured I would end up trying to fish out of Kona. I will look into that route now.

What is the main catch in late October?

Thanks again, I will have a full report with pictures when I return.

In October, Blue & Black Marlin, Tuna, and Wahoo are probably best bets.

We've fished on Sea Dancer 3 days (2 different Hawaiian trips) gotten 1 Blue, 1 Spearfish, 2 Stripeys, mahi, assorted tuna.

My personal opinion is that there is a lot more stuff to do on the Big Island than on Oahu - But Oahu does have Pearl Harbor, North Shore and pineapples.

You've got Volcanoes and fishing on the Big Island.
