Marine, No offense but it didnt take long for the easter bunny to go to your head. Read what you wrote...............It never fails. Talk about security and someone will always talk about how he and his gun run the neighborhood.
Good thing about living down south is no one really thinks you guys are smart enough to ever run the country so we let you talk this way.
For the record, You cant shoot anyone for being on your property. EVER! If you do, you will have a problem.
I have said this forever. I dont have a problem with anyone that carries a gun but, They should make it mandatory that you go to school the minute you buy it and want to carry it. Too many people repeat this kind of nonsense, thinks its law, and act on this form of logic.
Im not picking on you......Your just mistaken.
You cant drag him back in the back door once you shoot him, If you pull it out you better use it, or any of the other myths about carrying a gun. A gun is for killing ONLY when your life is in danger, other people are in danger, and you can not retreat.
Good thing about living up north is we can always visit the south, then leave.......and have zero problems doing it.

Mary, forget the dog. All he is going to do is eat your house. Make a rational plan about what you really expect the alarm to protect you against. Hide anything of value in a place that makes no sense,....... get ADT. I would rather lose everything I have than go to prison thinking I did the right thing shooting a guy for stealing a 6 pack of beer. Especially if its your brother.
    Thanks Hubrs...

The gun subject is abused as you said. I don't have a problem with guns, I used to shoot them but my DA brother, has had binges where he pointed the gun at himself, the DA GF, condoned his actions by removing the gun from him and putting it in her mouth, to see how he would feel. He also accidentally fired off a acquired hand gun, causing my oldest non drug addict brother to be scared enough to disappear for 3 days till he came off his raging high. The GF left and then came back and took him for more drugs, to sooth his anger of lack of pills.

Sooooo no guns, his gun permits and authority have been taking away by the state. He spent 30 mins arguing with the PD 3 days ago as to why he should be allowed to have a gun, and that I refuse to give him his guns back. I don't have his guns and if I did, I would bring them to the PD because a drug addict does not belong having a weapon.

As for the dog, I love dogs, I want 10 but I do not live a lifestyle that can handle one. I've inherited a few and cared for them more than most but I can not justify getting a new dog at this point in time in my life.

Below is my beloved Pitbull Roxy, that was struck and killed under someone else's watch... I was at the shelter seen one just like box of rox but I am not in a place for another life to care for right now. She was my co pilot

    See not scared of guns

I honestly do not care what he takes to a certain degree, I just cant be home at all times and I want to know when I am away, there is someone there to notify me of a problem.

For you I think a security trained Bouvier des Flanders would be a great dog, and nobody would dare come into the house.
I have a alum bat, in the living room closet just for those extra special situations, been there for years never used it hope I never have to. I know my strength for yanking on tuna's and such, and a one cold clock swing, could cause death. I dont want no harm here, i do not believe in violence as being a solve.

I want a dog sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo BAD but I have to be a responsibile adult and resist my temptations. I want another pup like Rox but I don't ever think there can be a dog just like her in this world. She was the best..

Gee hubris....whats it like to think you know everything...but fall short, i have a 3 yo daughter..wife is pregnant w/2nd, live on 14 acres with a deep woods behind my house and work 12 hours a day , my wife is out from 7 AM till around 5..3 neighbors have had intruders in the past 2 years, we have 2 Chesapeake bay retrievers..never any problems..never any intruders...as for guns..i grew up around long guns and from an early age hunted duck with my dad in Watermill L.I., have spent too many years trudging around 3rd world shitholes with every type of loading weapon imaginable,i respect them and teach my family the same. If your condescending ,arrogant bullshit ,stems from some other inadequacy, don't make it my problem, and please don't purport to understand the ways of the South, and how to defend our homes and family....

Mary...can never totally stop a thief...although you can limit what he/she has access to........

any valuables/keepsakes/etc.....keep at another location (friends)...or pay a few bucks and get a safe deposit box at your bank.....that way ONLY YOU has access....well worth the minimal cost in the long run......

mary.....as much as you are fighting the urge to get another pooch..i believe it along with a decent alarm system is your best option...adt, slomans...both are good..but nothing better then a mouthy dawg behind that door...a nice doberman or a bullmastiff will do the trick...lol pits are great but alot of times they become "couch" dogs and just love everyone..

A German Shephard is the way to go here, you want dead, not mamed........no court cases to deal with..."guy broke in, dog killed him."...game over.....as for the Hubris reply, read page 6 of either the American Rifleman or American Hunter each month, citizens using deadly force..."guy breaks in Granny pulls 44 magnum out of the nightstand drawer and blows the guy into eternity, no charges filed."

Dont have to read it. Ill give you the facts that justify it. She is 80, hes a 32 year old punk with priors. She cant is isnt expected to retreat. He came up the steps I bet....its her home....Bang! Hes dead. Glad she is ok.
Marines answer and response is the reason people shouldnt be allowed to carry a gun. I dont care how many ducks he shot or how long guns have been in his family.....Tell it to the jury with that attitude.......good luck.
I think for what mary wants an alarm company will do the job nicely. If someone breaks in while she is away, police will contact her.
And no, its not that difficult walking around with common sense or as you describe it...."a know it all attitude." After all, Hubris isnt just my name.........its the ethos of my life.

ps. Mary, dont let lowtide see that picture of you with a gun. You already make him a little nuts. That could put him over the edge.
