i hope i do see something, it would break the monotony, you are being quiet, you didn't fish, flat is writing some NSA computer program, Admin is thinking about his next trip, i haven't seen a phone line lit up at the store in the last 4hrs, Box is MIA, chesneys grading papers, Glenns writing ex post facto briefs or boxers, and people who know me, ( you know what im talking about) have been giving me wine bottles all day. Ooooh it gets better... As I was watching the geiger counter drop below 500 rems and it was safe to enter the zone the doorbell rang and there stood a nice young man.
No I didn't do the fly gaff and coconut thing... I just let Mini carry on with her counter assault at full volume as I invited the boy in! Man that poor kid gotan earfull. When Mini saw that she had a guest, she locked her self in the bathroom.
Of course Daddy has a handy dandy hinge remover on his hip. Over the shoulder kicking and screaming I delivered her....

To the south we shifted our fun. 130 miles of delight. That holiday music station pumped out the same six with Felice Navidad leading off each set. Mini in the back singing off key to her ipod. The door ajar light blinking in my face the whole way.
Dinner was an enthralling pork roast and corn soufle . We did the exchange of gifts. Of course mini was asking for "more". Mrs Deep pointedout that the diamond pendant I got her was the same as last years... I got my usual $10 gift certificate to West marine so I can get a new rudder zinc.
Deep into the night I could hear that feliz Navidad from distant houses and could hear the SFC arcade being tested by Mini. I ate Mrs Deeps chocolate chip cookies until I was deep in a insulin induced coma. Out side I worried that santas reindeers wouldn't see my mooring whips that are usually tied to some boat or another.
This morning I woke to a hair dryer in my ear Missus was doing a pre dawn beautification deal on her self. As I rolled over to protect my ear drums from the roar of the Pratt Whitney jet powered hair blower, the Key Largo sun rise drilled a hole through my retina and its likely that I will be sniffing a seeing eye dogs scuppers for eternity because of it.
We went to the breakfast buffet and consumed more food than we should be able to. Now it's time to jump in the golf cart and take a ride to the beach/poool... Along the way I plan to get some palm fronds to weave a "bandolier" that iI will load with a variety of topsiders in case that hair dryer tries to come out again.
Why no fishing you ask? Mother nature has so kindly given me 25 knots of hard hot south east with a dash of rain tossed in. Add to that my usual Holiday client with knee surgery gone bad and I'm beached. The other client for this time of year had a change of plans and will not be comming to Florida for a while...

Well I did the obligatory husband /dad hour or two at the beach. Its so not me!

You see castle Deep Keys is a premier location on a piece of ground some twenty yards from the atlantic and protected by reefs, flats, and mangroves to the east. To my west though lies the community of Ocean Reef Club. This is possibly the most surreal monument to ostentacia and overwealth on earth. A place where children drive cadilac, mecerdes, and rolls royce patterned golf carts. A quiet place only interrupted by the odd lear jet or gulfstream IV taking off from its private strip. A place that boasts 100-130' yachts as the norm.
A trip to the pool and beach here is an excercise in the lifestyles of the rich and famous. I spot my passenger with the bad knee and we sit and talk fish over a coke at the tiki bar. We stick to fishing and stay off politics or family history. As much as it would be interesting to discuss his uncle Jack or father Bobby or my family ties to the other politically royal family, we instead discuss the fine points of chumming for ballyhoo.
Cathy Lee stops by and says hello. Frank is nowhere in sight. Kenny Rogers eats lunch at another gazebo. Kids order ten dollar virgin coladasor daquiries while others devour twelve dollar hamburgers. A six year old boy can't fathom the world he lives in and is only concerned with the wind blowing his beach ball faster than he can run.
Money people look as diverse as can be. Oh is that Paris Hilton? The next looks like Roseanne Barr. Fabio struts in one corner while Flabio bakes in the sun on the other. You watch them arrive. Shades of bone and ivory that work past a pastel pink through coral and salmon eventually to a crimson well done effect. I look around at the pomp and circumstance of the place and it reminds me of the money I don't have. Nope that's not me...
I think I'll go snapper fishing off the sea wall now... With the wind starting to swing and a hot sultry humidity rising I can smell a shitty storm rising. Sure enough I can see the rats ass radar signature of a really big system loading up like a scorpions tail ready to unload some hell conditions in what looks like will be a few hours.
