WTF was that all about? It looked like the CG rammed them on purpose? I would hope there's more to the story that justified that...the CG could have killed them...and they had the right of way! I'm sure they realize that they probably couldn't hear them. Unless they just shot someone or there was a previous encounter, or they were on target for a US security concern, it doesn't add up...plus that someone on the CG boat videod it and then leaked it.

The Coast Guard was at fault IMO. They did nothing to try and aviod them.

We've always been taught that even when you have the right of way you also MUST do everything within reason to avoid a collision!

The narration of that video states that the Coast Guard was repeatedly yelling to the boat over their PA.....well, how did they end up hitting the boat then? They should never have held course. Right of way or not, it didn't justify ramming them when they knew damn well they were there.

Now, if there was a nuclear submarine just out of sight to the left, and they had a tip these guys were terrorists, I'd say...nice shot. But otherwise somebody really screwed up. As noted in the video, it didn't seem like the guys even knew what happened. I bet after they had some time to think about it they were pissed. Their lawyers going to have a field day with this video.

I didn't even hear anyone else on the boat say something like...lookout, or what the F. It seemed so intentional I'm hopeful there is more to the story.

If anyone getts aggravated with morons on the water not paying attention and maybe being ignorant to the right of way, I do....

But I would never hold my course to that extreme....

I would hold my course enough to hopefully make them realize they should yield but never do it to the point of collision...my God....

And to be yelling at them to get their attention at the same time?

I do JD! Them fellas in the speed boat were the inventors of the green machine. This video was taken quite a few years ago when YOU KNOW WHO was a coasty. Yes sir, the captain of that cg vessel was non other than the BOX himself!

That is the most blatant case of operator error on the part of the coast guard i have ever seen!!!! I would string that helmsman by his balls from the Washington Moniment. i have long maintained that they have some people who absolutely have no business being on the water and that fully illustrates it. What an absolute moron. It is his responsibility to alter course if range decreases and bearing does not change and it is evident clearly that he knew of the potential for collision in advance.
