Cockpit Monkey In Training
hockey fans?
Brothabob's comment on "sneakin one past the goalie" got me thinking, most of yall hail from a geographical location to the north of myself. up there were entire ponds freeze up for the winter, and you take a sled to get around.
forgive me if this is just a common misconception, but all you guys are nuts about hockey, right???
just curious, if you are a fan, do you watch more college of NHL hockey? What teams do you pull for?
How do you keep score??
Just a question an ol southern boy ponders watching the rainfall on a 73 degreee day in early march.

Crab mustard is good
Since the NHL has gone down hill so much in the past few years ( between expansion and the walkout ) I wat ch mostly college hockey these days, plenty of good teams to watch in Boston. Umass is my alma mater , they ar having a good season (ranked 16 ) , they play No.9 Maine tonight should be a good one.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
I LOVE HOCKEY!!!!! I don't watch much on tv but I go to a game as much as possible. When I was in college I had season tickets to the Norfolk Admirals- they rock. I still go see them as often as I can. Everyone here will get together and go to Charlotte to see the Hurricanes.

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
The only way to get out on the water this time of year is to strap on the blades
My son is in a tourney this weekend, I get to watch 20 hours of 8 year olds scrapping it out

Stop staring at my Avatar.
I am a hockey fan. I like the minor leagues better than the NHL. I think the minor league players play harder because they are trying to get to the show. Up here it is the Hershey Bears. Go to just about every home game!

Big Yes!
From my seat here at Melton's I am literally looking out the window at The Anaheim "Honda Center" home of the Anaheim Ducks, currently first place in the division and a serious contender for the Stanley Cup!
I may be going to thier game tonight against the San Jose Sharks, another top team that just added Billy Guieran (sp) to their team, also a contender.
The Boston Bruins are my team, but they have Sucked for many a year so very discouraging,
No other pro sport where you rarely hear any BS about the players holding out for more money, shooting each other in bars and they will take 15 stitiches in the head and be back out on the ice for the next shift..Good Stuff!

Hide- My Wifes Logged On
College hockey draws a passionate fan base more than the NHL, the population just isn't as big as football or basketball in the NCAA's.
I have played for 31 years and played Division 1 in college. To answer part of your question, where I went to school there were days when it was easier to skate to class than walk and snow was commonly up to your nuts into April. The NCAA tournament is as intense as all the others (we made it 3 out of 4 years I was there) and is great to watch because every shift means so much. There is definitely more attraction to and coverage of college hockey the further north you get.
