    Smile Ho Ho Ho

Ho Ho Ho yall... Doing not much down here at castle Deep Keys... Fished off the dock a bit for grunts and snappers... Little bit of shark abuse at night. Otherwise just kinda laid back. Tired. Neighbor came home in drunken fits about 2:30 last night. Cranked stereo full tilt and passed out. Couldn't get him up to shut it off til 5AM...
Oh well. Got the full set of sopranos a-z from santa so that will keep me suggary sweet for a long time to come. Plan on sailfishing tomorrow then some late day bonefish to make up for our last few blowed out days... Didn't have a boat at my disposal today...
Wishing all of you a great holiday...

Well right after I tapped out the last post, we bowed up big off the dock... Never saw it but 0this fish worked us. I keep a 9500 fin nor with 500+ yards of 80 PP on it just for that dock shark duty. Hammered down to like 25 lbs of drag we had a critter pick up a half snapper and head for the horizon... Son of a gun not only strong but fast. Scary fast... Nothing we could do but watch the string go away quick and finally part sounding like rifle fire!
Got out in the borrowed sick boat yesterday. Missions accomplished but in reverse order. Started with bones got one of them a fair blacktip and a bonnet head. Picked some fun bottom stuff out from a sneaky spot I have in the mangroves. Slid off and settled for a dozen hoos to sailfish with. Three flat lines out double came up. Baits braided themselves. Busted one off and got the other.
No home run but a good time... Helped my nephews set up for dock fishing in my absence as i headed back to palm beach a couple hours ago and just got here.
Now time to get the 43 ready for a haul, fresh bottom, and new rudders...

Likely a big ole shark. The same thing happened to me a few seasons ago. Was night fishing a cut on the bayside of key largo, when something took the bait and headed for key west.
After half my line disappeared, I clamped down on the spool, and broke him off. I went back the next night with some heavier equipment, and managed to land a couple good sized sharks.......great fun.

Deep, Last spring break we rented a house on Plantation Key. One of my sons left a snapper head on a rod with 20# test....about 11 I go out to check on the boat and the reel is singing.... we chased the thing out to the bay....it was a huge tarpon. He took me in to the shallows and finally broke of when we had him up to the boat. I could not move and he went under us. He was about 5ft long and broad. What a fight.
So try it again and follow him in the boat.
