    History of the word SH#t!

Some more useless information. In the late 1930's early 40's horse and cow manure was shipped by cargo vessels to remote areas for disposal and fertilzer. The shipping industry was experiencing a loss of vessels at sea at an alarming rate secondary to fire. It was later discovered that the manure was giving off the well none gas "Methane". This gas was building to explosive levels in the bottom of the ships. One inginition source and BOOM! The industry was searching for a safer way to ship the product and came up with shipping it on the upper decks of the vessel. A special placard was made for the containers of manure and it was properly labeled "Ship High In Transport" thus the initials S. H. I. T. were formed...No Pun Intended.

So now you know where the stinky stuff got its name!
