    Hi Folks.

    Hi Guys and Guyesses,

I'm a new member here, so just a few words about me. I've travelled the world (from the UK) as far as Thailand to the east and California to the west. Sadly I never managed to cross the Pacific, but maybe one day.... Spent a bunch of years in the RAF, then worked with computers for a time. The last eight or so years of my working life was on lobster boats, I say lobster, but we were grateful sometimes to find spider crab and whelk. We shipped from west Wales, (Wales is a small country to the west of England which stops it from drifting into Ireland) and fished sometimes the Irish sea or maybe south towards Cornwall and Devon.

Now I'm retired and live a quiet life with my wife in the midlands UK, and spend most of my time fishing for trout and coarse fish, and dreaming of a trip to the warmer waters chasing bigger quarry. Maybe one day I'll catch a decent size tuna or tarpon, I'm still dreaming !

Very entertaining site you have here, I hope I can contribute something useful.

    Best Regards,

    Rodge.

    Awesome intro! Welcome aboard, Rodge.

I've not been out of the country yet (Brazil) and I go surf fishing here and there. Tarpon is also on my "to catch list", but I'm happy with any fish
Regarding "quarry" I'm going to google as soon as I post this message as I have no idea what it looks like.

    Good to hear from you

To answer a few q's. The gulf stream arrives on the west coast of Ireland and splits going north towards Scotland and south towards Wales and the West Country. Frankly without it we would be in deep trouble.

Coarse fishing is going after anything which is not a 'game fish' which are trout and salmon. Coarse are, roach, rudd, tench, pike, bream, perch, barbel, and so on.

The trout fishing in my area is absolutely the best in the UK. Not the largest of fish, some of them are over 25lbs in the southern fisheries but they're stock fish released to cause a headline in the angling press. But as sporting fish, a good Northampton trout will give you a fight, pound for pound as good as anything.

Welcome to the site. I took a charter out of oregon inlet on the outer banks in North Carolina two years ago and caught 18 yellow fin tuna. do what you have to and get out there. there is nothing like getting big fish on the other end of a pole. Take pictures and post them. good fishing.
