Bill, I've had Gout now for over 20 years. Women argue with me when I tell em it's worse than child birth. I take the same pill as you and when I do get an attack there's nothing that works better than Alieve, and I've tried everything.

I know you have checked by now. That is colchicine by either Qualitest or Activis
Colchicine works ok for acute gout attacks if you take enough. Some doctors use it as a preventative once a day, but it is only marginally effective. Best preventative is Allopurinol- prevents uric acid formation.- can not start allopurinol during a gout attack, you have to wait until the attck subsides. Indomethacin 50mg three times daily is the optimum treatment for acute gout attack. I never leave home without it

hmmm GOUT a subject i know all to well.......well...simple remedy.....STRAWBERRIES frozen or fresh......yup...somehow they help break down the uric acids which begin to crystalize in the joints which harden resulting in the pain ....other remedy is cherry juice ...i get black cherry juice from health food store...mix with water and this helps also....BUT most important of all is your DIET......watch what ya eat.....pastas with heavy sauces...gravies.....red meats are no no's......oh and seafood and booze not good either.....no wonder my i limp after a trip to a raw bar.

Yup i did all the prescription gout drugs over the years....but seems as if i have developed an immunity towards them....sooo......back to basics for me.......now i just cant go for the fufu strawberry dacquiri....
