    Smile Hermaphrodite Fish

Todays trip we poked a single sail and a couple dolphin. One was a pretty good fish of just short of 20lbs. Square head so its a bull... right? Open it and it has both milt and roe.
I see some of these odd balls usually late spring or summer here but rarely at this time of year and can't recall seeing them elsewhere at all. Was wondering if any of you have seen them where you live.
Not real common but more common than say a doe with antlers...
Groupers are born male then switch to female later in life. But usually a square headed dolphin is strictly male... Any input?

Paul were you fishing in the keys again ? Wow extraordinary find deep c. What color lure did she/he bite on? I saw a rabbit with antlers once. The fellow called it a jack o lope. He said is was easily hunted though. They are fast and blend well with surroundings, but whine all the time and easy to find in a thicket

It was a Key West local Mahi that tried to ride the Gulf Stream to Rehoboth Beach but Deep killed it on it's way.

We get a couple each late spring here. Usually in larger fish like 25-35 pounds but this is the only one I've seen this time of year and not as big as they usually are. Its not a matter of checking sex organ. Open what you are expecting to be a male and it has eggs and milt and you have a hermaphrodite.
Theres another odd ball that we get in the small dolphin schools once in a while is a pompano dolphin. Look almost identical to a regular one. Slightly rounder. Much lighter flesh and a more pronounced but smaller blood line. Seldom over three pounds.

Nature has all kinds of freaks out there. Like people who feel compelled to try to derail every single thread another person writes. Stalkers as the case may be...
