When I was a kid (many years ago) and my dad had a 17' Critchfield, they (we) would go clamming over near Cape Lookout, NC. I was too lazy to rake clams, I'd just stay in the boat. Once my dad told me to keep an eye on the water in the slue we were anchored in, but I fell asleep. When I woke up, the boat was sitting on bottom. Was Dad ever p.o.'ed when I asked him how long before the tide came back in. Luckily, it was almost low tide when I had awakened, and we didn't have to wait long to float the boat.

I guess you guys are surprised have never been to Wachapreague. A few years ago there was a godo flounder bite in a shallow bay that has less than 6 inches at low tide. Well about 50 boats whent in but only about a dozen made it out before the bottom of the tide.
