Help me to understand...

Why..The Somali pirates attacked a french naval vessel..whoops,the french caught one of the boats, other got away...250 Mi off the coast, these boats are towed out by stolen fishing boats..the other pirates who have been caught over the last year all have been brought to court...wow. I wonder if the pirating would continue with such frequency if instead of being detained they were blown out of the water...or if the fishing boats towing these skiffs were sunk in view of land..When you weigh the potential payoff of millions VS.being clothed..fed & jailed (in conditions far better than prior) the pirates have zero reason to desist..Float Test a few and perhaps that'll change.http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20091007...20091007151820

So any small boat off the coast of Africa (couple thousand miles of coast) Singapore (very high piracy) Indonesia, south china sea, etc...Any small boat with a couple guys in it we blow it out of the water?

Sounds like a great idea, I'm sure the local fishermen and other recreational and commercial boat users wont mind at all if we just start sinking every boat we suspect of being a pirate...

Thats what courts are for, prove guilt...this is called evolution of society, we can think logically enough (well some of us obviously) to know not everything is as it appears and we aren't just going to start killing people because they are suspects...

I'm pretty sure he is talking about those that are actually in the act of committing the crime, not just random boats suspected of being pirates.

You may want to come off a little less condescending, you sound pretty disrespectful.

IMHO, If any vessel opens fire in International waters without a declared act of war, then it should be fair game to return fire.

Marine,

You obviously wrote this post in haste ! You really didn't mean to say, that ALL pirate's should be done away with did you? After all they under-privledged by no fault of their own! Be careful, next thing you know you'll post up something like all people that are physically able to work should work, instead of getting a hand out. Your just way tooooo insensitive. Frank

Cool your jets, Sparky. Obviously reading comprehension isn't your forte...Try again..never did i say ALL boats..and i sure the ability to discern between a man dragging a net VS.one holding a Kalashnikov is within the ability of any warship with a 1/2 way decent pair of binoculars..Some folks are just THICK.
