    Help me ID this Fish

    some friends and I caught this in Costa Rica in 300 FT mixed in with Juvenille Groupers.


    Any thoughts?

    Whoops - May be a golden eye tilefish - I missed the CR part.
    The tail is definitely not a Jack's tail... The meat should be about
    like a grouper...

    those are grey tile fish also known as blueline tilefish. golden tile fish have golden spots all over them.
