Greetings to Everyone,
We, the State Troopers assigned the NJ State Police Marine Services Bureau, are asking for your help again. As many of you may know, fall seems to be the season for boat burglaries. The subjects know that the marinas are often unoccupied by patrons and staff. The subjects simply drive into an empty marina, walk onto the docks and boats and begin their work of stripping the equipment that they want. The incidents in Cape May Harbor probably occurred sometime overnight of Thursday December 1 into December 2. What we are asking is that you be aware of your surroundings while you are at the marina and underway. If you see something unusual or suspicious, please pass that information on to the nearest NJSP Marine Station, your local police department or send a tip/lead via the Maritime Security Initiate (
www.njsp.org/maritime ).
If you are aware of any unusual sales of marine electronics or fishing gear, please do not hesitate in reporting the suspicious activity. We would rather track down 1000 leads that go nowhere than to allow that one missed tip to go unreported. We are asking you, the fishing and boating community, to help us in solving these and all crimes on and around the waterfront.
