    Hello world, tight lines

Adam here from New Jersey, new to site and like what I see so far. Looking to do some cod fishing in Mass, Off the Helen-H and was wondering if anybody has any comments about when the best time is, Is march better than February or are they catching fish now. From the boat report its all good but considering the investment I would like an other honest opinion. Thanks in advance Adam

I can help you out a little. The helen-H is a great boat to get cod.I have never been on it but alot of my friends have. They produce good numbers. All of the charter boats go out to stellwagon bank for cod.If I were you take the whole day trip rather the half day because of time getting out there and back.I think it cost around 80 to 100 bucks depending what boat and how many people are on it.I would wait till the end of march begining of april. The weather plays a big part if your gonna enjoy yourself out there. If its really windy alot of times they wont even go out.If for some reason they are not on the bank they may take you out a little farther about 6-10 miles out to a place called wildcat.I have been out there several times and let me tell you the place is loaded with cod and haddock. The water is to cold for the dogfish but you never know anymore with those rats.DRESS WARM!!!!Like I said the weather out there can change on a dime .Ive been out there and you could go water-sking at 1:00 and ten minutes later you have 3-5 foot swells.Did I tell you to DRESS WARM!!!!!You will have alot of fun out there you will see dolphin.whales.seals tuna.Maybe not tuna that early but nothing suprises me when I go out there ite like a whole nother world out there. They will probably start you out with clams around 150 ft.If you start catching dogs then go with jigs..Good luck and have fun.

I fish out of Shark River in the fall to fish Stipers. We do real well from Asbury Park all the way up to the Hook. Some good structure up there.
