Just wanted to say hello to the site. Just started reading about a week ago and I'm hooked(no pun intended).
To introduce my self, I'm from Charleston, SC-born and raised.
Fish mostly inshore and nearshore, bluewater fish about a dozen times a year. I have a charter license(6 pack) and guide on the side-mostly weekends, but still fish 5 to 6 times a week. My favorite way to fish is live bait for kings. (Fished SKA for 4 years)
Fishing Report-Inshore is great reds, trout, and flounder are snapping. Bull Reds are starting to be caught in good numbers at the jettys.(And the pogies are loaded in the creeks and the beach----still on the smallish side, but good for inshore bait=trout candy)
Dads Dream.....I see you have a Sea Pro, I have a 21 Bay Have you heard Brunswick is stopping the production of Sea Pro in June? It is kinda surprising to me because Sea Pro boats are all over here in Charleston, SC. Anyway, you also have a great season!
Yah, when SP sold out to Brunswick...and forced Mercs on every SP....it was just another example of corp America....yada-yada
I'm bummed about that- but, I've said to my buddies around Maine/NH....I'd go back and buy the same setup all over again
Mine was a new '04 powered w Yam 200 hpdi - it has been awesome- the boat has been babied living on a trailer in a barn & all....but nontheless, it's been reliable.
Gosh, and I wanted to step up to the SP 27 CC someday....
Welcome..hows charleston doing these days? I hung my hat there for two years..and i must say i miss it..ALOT.
Hope you fill us in on all the inshore news goin down..This time last year i was giggin watchin redfish chase bait in my spotlight!!! Glad to have you hear...this is a good place to be.
Definitely, I love my SP Bayboat. I purchased new in 05 when they were going to mercs and was very reluctant since every motor myself or my family has every owned was YAM. But I have the 175 Verado with 1200 hours and no troubles. So go firgure. My dad is still hesitant to go fishing with me and my MERC. His 92' YAM 70 HP had 6400 hours before rebuilt and it still runs like a champ and smokes like he!!
CHS's doing fine......the temp is starting to rise and the humidity too as you probably know. The hot muggy mornings are a pain when I go to the desk job, but it is nice when you're cutting across the harbor Sat morning with the boat trimmed up nice heading to the honey hole.
Welcome Aboard Reel Commotion. I love that area. I went over the new bridge last year and it is so much better than that old tinker toy bridge fr. Mt Pleasant
