    Heat,

I work where it is stifling hot every day, I don't use any gadget's or lotion's. I drink alot of water and water only (well I do drink 2 big cups of coffee in the morning). I don't eat heavily, 1 meal aday, supper. Wearing a straw hat that allow's air to flow through is a help if I'm outside. On the boat I generally wear a visor/sweatband thing (I don't even know what they are called). Guess the point is water is the natural thing you need, air flow is the same. Sweating is good, when you stop you're in trouble. You may want to try night fishing, when it's that hot they generally bite better at night anyhow. LF, you know I can't help it. Doesn't that dually of your's have a/c? Frank

Picked up a "buff" at a marine show in West Palm. I really like it and since I am of Celtic descent it really helps. I paid $14 and saw them in tackle stores in the Keys for $18.
It is amazing how many different ways they can be configured.

Heat injurys are preventable but you have to make steps to insure your prepared for it. I tend to work in hot enviroments (as our last dissussion showed) and the first of many big things is acclmentation....probably didn't spell that right. If you are going to be out don't do hard activities until you have been in the enviroment for a whild normally 2 weeks or steady temp and your good then you can pick up the pace. If you know your going out start hydrating the night before and plan on continuing to drink thru the day when your thursty it is way beyond time to start drinking water now your playing catch up. mostly water with a small gatoraid thrown in will do you good but don't forget the food as your body will be burning calories at an excelerated rate and need them replaced. Now sweating is ok .....profuse sweating is BAD that means things ar taking a turn for the worse first of all let someone know whats going on incase you fall out, then get to a shady spot and start to take in some room temp water (it doesn't have to acclmate to the bodys temp before absorbtion) and place a cold water bottle or ice in your crotch or pits to reduce your core temp a bit till you feel better usally about 15-20 min. In this time after the water a gatoraid isn't a bad idea. If you do suffer from a heat injury wether heat stroke or heat exaustion you need to know that you are now more suseptable to the same casulty that another person who hasn't suffered one.

    Hope this helps

Have a Buff and don't go out for long periods of time without it anymore. Dip it in some cold water and wring it out and slip it on and you'll feel a big difference. Keeps you a lot cooler.
