I believe that the officer had every right to use force - there was obstruction of an arrest happening and if he didnt use force it would have only escalated.

In the first Rodney King trial (the one that led to the riots) the cops were acquitted because the defense showed the entire video and demonstrated that the officers were using established departmental procedure.

Obviously how it looked in the court of public opinion held a lot more weight than an actual trial where all the evidence was presented.

This cop is toast.

BTW, it's not my intention here to get into a debate about Rodney King or departmental procedure. Just observing the difference in outcomes between our "nation of laws" and what gets TV ratings.

What ever the reason, when an officer of the law tells you to calm down and you dont.......You deserve what you got coming.
I say one punch shows restraint. Perhaps she would have responded better to what her boyfriend gives her.......A ***** slap.

It looks as if the young black girls were looking for fight. If they had just been respectful, I guarantee this would have never gone any further than a friendly warning to observe the Jay walking laws....but NOOOO, they had to pull the race card and get in the policeman's face and start pushing and shoving. If you notice, the only footage available is that of the cop hitting the girl...not the escalation from the initial approach. I wish it hadn't escalated to this myself but it takes two (in this case 3) to tango. He should have just sprayed them both with pepper spray after warning them loudly prior to subduing them but hind sight is 20/20.

Here is some different footage that ABC didn't show...this guy was in a very hostile situation with a sidearm strapped to his waist. The way people kept encroaching on him trying to subdue the disrespectful young woman, I would have been fearful of someone trying to get my gun.

Thye Rodney King case - In my opinion was bruit force and uncalled for.
Did rodney king act like a fool - yes - but didnt deserve the beating he got from law enforcement. Let the judge and jury do its job.

But this case????? = poor cop - gonna get a bum rap.

I would rather have seen the officer not give a shit about a Jay walker and use his pepper spray instead of his fist. He might have a job right now if he did that. Either way I couldn't care less, she'll get rich and piss the money away like everyone else. I think it is very unfortunate for that Cop and his family that he's out of a job. He should have thought about it and chosen the spray.
