Hatfields and McCoys Atv Trails Info??

Does anyone have any info about the Hatfields and McCoys ATV trails in West Virginia?

    http://www.trailsheaven.com/

In two weeks, I'll be taking my son four wheeling for a few days on the trails in WV. We rented a cabin along a river about 4 miles from the trailhead. from what I understand, you can ride your ATV's into town just like your cars. You can ride on the roads within 10 miles of the trailheads.

Anyway, I guess my questions are- has anyone been there before?
    What is the area like?
Is there anything that I should make sure to do or see?

    Any info is much appreciated!!!

Wish I could help you out but I have never been there. I have seen a show I think was on the speed channel about that area in WV. Showed a lot of the trails and some of the town. I was just talking that over with a couple of my buddies two days ago about making a road trip there with our bikes. The other great place to ride is Silver Lake sand dunes in Michigan. Kind of like Glamis, only smaller and on the shores of the Great Lakes (lake ontario i think). Please do let me/us know how your trip is and take some pictures.

What kind of bikes are you riding? I ride an old school ATC 250R.

I have some buddies who go there every year. They love it. They say to watch out for the big mud holes on some of the trails as they will eat you up. Also pick your trail carefully some very rough terrain at places. They take 1 quad with all the basic breakdown stuff like extra gas and a tire repair kit for sure. Also a way to reinflate or just a can of slime.

If you want to know more PM me your number and I will put you in touch with the guy who sets up the trip every year.

Thanks Guys- I will take some pictures and maybe some video. I'll let you know how it is. Since I don't know the area, I didn't want to miss any good spots and also if there was anything to avoid.

Rhodekill- I'm off to Cabelas shortly for extra fuel cans, storage case to hold spares and emergency stuff. I'll keep a look out for the mud holes!

We rode the Tellico Trails in NC a few times. If this place is anything like Tellico, make sure you have tougher, aftermarket tires or be ready to empty a few gallons of slime into your tires and hope they hold. Enjoy the ride.

You will have a blast!!! I have been there several times with friends, and I trip with my wife. It is definately worth the drive. As you said you can ride your atv into town (although depending on which trail head you go to there is not much to town. Dont forget to get your permit when you get there, they do check them while you are out, and plan on it being cold in the morning. Watch the maps closely and believe it when they label the advanced or experts trails.. they are usely very steep and can get worse as you go... so be prepared. Other than that you will have a blast, I wish we could get back down there soon!

    Proheat,

I'm going there March 13th-16th with the faimly and some friends. We've never been there ourselve and we don't know what to expect. I've heard alot about it and I can't wait to get there. We are staying at Livingood lodging in Gilbert and that is on the Browning Fork trail system.

Good luck and post some pictures

    Mike
