I've been happy with my cheap Icom. 3 years old now and holds a charge with decent transmitt and receive. I need to get an adaptor to hook into my boat antenna though.
Just came out a year ago ... I believe typically sell for around $195
Its suppose to have the longest lasting battery out there. I think I was told that rescue swimmers use the older version of this radio
the adapter for the m72 ... ***I THINK*** ....***I THINK*** .... SMA male to SO-239 which will allow you to hook into your boats VHF antenna. BUT Call Icom to confirm that ...
www.pl-259.com sells them cheap ...like $5 you can even get the adapter with a 2' piece of cable to give it some flexibility
Standard Horizon has some nice units now. The HX270 is great for the money and the HX500 and 600 have some nice high end features. I would do that or ICOM. The other brands don't hold a candle in my opinion.
