This is retarded. It's out there with the damn sargassum for gods sakes! When is the last time you saw sargassum stacked on the beach? It happens...but not often. Normally in the late fall. It will be ripped up in those eddies till its basically gone. Those eddies come from the interaction between the second biggest river in the world and the loop current. The eddies are endless and go on all summer. They will figure this out soon. It will certainly not happen again! These things are an oasis in the desert to pelagics and lower your gas prices. Ignore those idiots. It's time to stop calling it a "GULF DISASTER". You know those eddies you fellas hope and pray will get within range...THINK ABOUT IT That shit will be something someone sees every once in a while mixed in a trash line. I gotta agree with Michael on this one. It is a bit overblown but still has the potential to really screw things up. One thing is for sure, and that is that BP and their subs took some shortcuts and cost saving measures that should not be allowed.
I say drill, but take all the precautions and spend the $s for the safety backups.
That well should have been capped automatically as mandated in other jurisdictions.
I will be training on a Coast Guard cutter Thurs from the Chandeleurs to the Ms sound and will report on the findings.

but I am talking daily to fisherman from all over and they report a big fat NOTHING. A sheen in certain places but you yankees dont understand what happens here. That river is pointed right at that rig and dumps trillions of gallons of water a day, the eddies are natural. The loop current hits that flow and produces thousands of eddies and currents throughout the gulf and elsewhere of course but you can all relax. The press and poloticians are the problem.
