Exclamation Guess I'm the bad guy.

    OK,
I guess I'm the bad guy here.

For those that dont know, I care a lot about Sportfishermen.com and consider Admin John a friend.

I have been watching this Turborattler, continue to Spam this website with his products after being repeatedly asked by John to either become a part of this community or cease his SPAMMING. Mr Strange acts like this hasnt happened in the past. It drives me nuts, when someone comes on here and takes advantage of John's laid back policies. If Turborattler had been a contibuting member of the board this debate would not have happened. But, over this entire summer Turborattler has had ONE post not related to pushing his products, my question is, is he a member of SFC for ANY other reason, than to promote his products?? If not he should step up and support the site.

If the members of SFC enjoy all the video content, pictures and tournament coverage than they should realize that people promoting products without adding to the board are only hurting the site. It costs an unbelievable amount of money to keep a site like SFC running, the amount of server space and bandwidth it takes to keep all the videos and pictures on SFC is crazy. I have watched John, cover tournaments while living out of his TRUCK! John is not getting rich from this site, but SFC is his dream and he does what it takes to realize that vision. I'm not saying just to buy exclusively from SFC sponsors, but, to feed into spammers only undermines, the site getting legitimate advertisers.

So, I don't see what I did wrong, but if I've offended anyone I apologize.

I agree with you Chuck. I looked at his post list and the last post he made that wasn't promoting either the haywire machine or screaming ring tones was Sept 2006. John has always allowed posters to have banners in their posts as long as they posted useful post and contributed to the site. His posts are pure spam, He was warned quite clearly that spam would not be tolerated. If it was my site I would delete HIM. However John is usually more reasonable than I am but you can terminally piss him off if you try hard enough

I don't see you as the bad guy Chuck, and the loyalty to the site and the members comes through loud and clear....and that's why folks like to give you business. Just because someone comes on here and spams their product doesn't mean that folks are going to bite...when people's agendas are more about pushing product than fishing they are more transparent than Michael Vick's apology (I don't know why I keep picking on Vick, I guess it's just an easy tartet ). I hope you keep up with the passion for the site and continue to deliver great service dude, as that's why I like to spend money with you and Mary.

That wire twirler will sink or swim of it's own merit...besides...who cares about sharks anyway

Chuck I do not think you are the bad guy. I see you standing by a friend "s" in this. The abusive advertising tactics we have shoved at us by this turbo rattler is and will undermine a dream and philosophy john has invested in this great site. John is very leaniant in his policy. Being very leaniant in this area, john will have abusive advertisers take advantage of this ploicy. Chuck you have brought this to the attention of the board members once again. As a friend, member, sponsor of this site you have upheld the guide lines that will keep this site at top. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think the word GIVE in "give back to the site some kind of content" is where turbo rattler lacks in his responsibility as a member of this site. I think the word FREE in "free advertising" has been abused over and over again by turbo rattler. The policy in place now is working for 99% of the members and advertisers, sponsors. Turbo is in the 1% not making the grade.
In my opinion there should be a fee charged turbo rattler for abusive advertising tactics such as this. Also a fee explaining the member policy to turbo rattler again. The word spam and under handed advertising tactics fall line to line. Constantly pushing a product outside of the policy we all uphold is not healthy for this site.

No sweat Chuck. My only disagreement with the whole ordeal is promoting an advertiser's product over a competitor (albeit a Spammer), and then bashing the spammer when you don't know anything about the quality and features of the product. Two wrongs don't make a right.
I think many of us go out of our way to buy from members and advertisers on this site, and that's a great thing. But only if it is a quality product, not just because the business in on SFC.
BTW, when it's all said and done, it's hard to beat the little Dubro tool for $10 unless you plan on making a few hundred rigs.

The problem isn't the spam. The problem is that's the only contribution he makes to the site. If he posted fishing reports or other material no one would complain
I can think of at least 10 people who are not advertiser who promote a product whether it is a book, themselves as a mate or captain or a business venture in their posts. However their posts add good interesting content to the site in addtition to product promotion.
The advertizers come here because there is good content to draw readers and lookers. If you don't pay for an ad you should be willing to pay by adding good readable content to the site
