GROUP BUY QUESTION...

This has come up in the past and i just dont get it.. someone gets a good deal on something and they offer it to everyone and some people just get all snapped about it..

i tried this on another site for a different product and before i went to the tackle shops i called the company to make sure they could handle the order and then called around and no one wanted to help me out..

i was trying to get something discounted like 40 bucks and try to sell 50..

now who in their right mind would not take that deal.. drop your price 40 dollars..

so lets take this.. you buy something at dealers cost for 140 dollars.. you have a 50 percent markup and that makes the product 210 dollars on your shelf..

you sell about 20 a year during the busy season in nj when everyone has extra money.

now you drop it down to 170 or 180 dollars and sell 50 of that product in one shot direct shipped from the manufactuer.. now you make between 1500-2000 dollars for basically no work.. someone else is handling the shipping and you just get the old saying...

WOW JOE SCHMOE GOT US A GREAT DEAL ON THIS PRODUCT.. HOT DAMN.. I CAN NOT WAIT I BUT SOMETHING AGAIN..

instead of jumping on everyone why not step up to the plate as a seller and offer a discount for a big purchase...

it is only fair and only right for someone to do for us if we are giving them business like that..

just doesnt make sense to me at all..

sorry for any mixed feelings on this but i just find it pathetically rediculous..

Vinnie, I tried to explain this to you, on the other site. First of all, let's get this straight you tried to cut the dealers out of the loop, claiming you were starting an outfitting business. You always talk about supporting local business and charterboats, yet you want to cut us out. The problem with these deals is that they are what drives small shops out of business. Example, you get a deal for Hydroglows, let say 20 lights. Most shops won't sell that many in a year. So either the company screws their dealers and let's you buy direct or one dealer does the deal, the rest of thes shop will lose the potential sales. In the case of set MSRP pricing such as Penn, Shimano, Gloomis, etc, my response is to let the company know that this going on, when the companies deal directly with people like yourself, and cut their legitimate retailers, then I will not deal with them anymore. You know its sad, when some guys need something real bad so they can fish tomorrow, they love their local tackle shops, but those same guys will turn around and cut us out any chance they get.
Also, Vinnie in the thread on the Barn you are referring to, I did tell you if you gathered the money and took care of distributing the product, I would give a group deal

This was not directed at you chuck.. it was in general.. also.. i didnt try to cut anyone out of the loop. i spoke with them to make sure they could handle 50 lights in a shot..

you want a legitimate outfitting company.. call the state of nj.. reel horney sportfishing and outfitters.. i will pm you my tax id and federal employees id if you want.. not a problem..

i buy from my local tackle shops religuously and spend more money on bait and tackle then i do on my truck a month and that is around 650 dollars..

i was not cutting out anybody at all. you dont know my background logistics on the deal so therefore there is no reason to even bring that up..

small shops are for locals.. you dont have a worldwide business.. you dont even have a website peopel can buy from so why even get into it...

someone else called them and you know who that was and complained about it and how he was not going to carry their stuff anymore... well the owner didnt seem to mind.. i could put an add up here and sell them for a cheaper price and it would just drive prices down over and over again but thats not what i am talking about or looking to do..

i was taking a product and getting guys a good deal.. man if you didnt own a tackle shop you would be all over it.. the economy is taking effects on everyone and if you want to stay afloat as a business sometimes you got a cut a great deal..

there are deals online all the time and if i call someone who is a big online retailer and asked them, which i did, they would be greatly appreciative to take that business and run with it..


my problem here is that if you see someone wanting to something like that why not promote your business and try to gain more by jumping in the loop and helping people out..

i drive a 2006 gmc sierra 2500 hd 4x4 white with grayish cloth interior.. i have a cpi 12rod rod rack on the back.

i own a 1989 33' pace express with twim 315 yanmars with 280 hours on them..

i also have a 1998 24ft proline cc with twin 150 mercuries..

i am a member of my local elks lodge..

i have been fishing since i coudl walk. i grew up in forked river nj in a house on the water and has boats my entire life.

i enjoy fishing, golfing, spending time with wife and family and also learning new things..

i also enjoy traveling and making new friends..

i am very energetic (some days) and even though i have my own boats i find it more enjoyable to charter boats and fish with others as it is more fun than scrounging up a crew to pay for fuel.. (ask captain kobey who i am)

i have alot of different rod and reel set ups that i have purchased from fishermans headquarters, murphys hook house, the reel seat, fishermans supply, and the dockoutffitters along with barnegat light bait and tackle..

i fish offshore as much as possible and i also fish alot on the surf.. inshore is not really my style..

i think i owe about 28k on my gmc truck and i pay 645 dollars a month..

i own a repossession business and we repo several hundred cars a month.

i also own 10 tow trucks..

i got 5 roll back ud 2000 and i also have 4 ford f550 with jerr dan quick pick backs and i have a isuzu wheel lift with the jerr dan also.. they run on diesel and all have mileage around 95k as they are all new.

i grease them regularly to make sure they run ok and stay in good shape..

i wash my body with a louffa and axe body wash.. i use tigi brunette goddess hair shampoo and conditioner and sometimes throw in some oatmeal..

i work monday thru friday 8-5 and in my off time this time of year i surf fish during the evening..

you are more than happy to look me up anywhere you want to and i would be happy to assist you in finding out anything else you would like to know..

oh and i wear a 38inch waist, and a 2x t shirt in case you wanted to send me something..
