    Greetings Everyone

Thought I would pop in and introduce myself. My name is Bernie and I am a tunaholic. I have no desire for any 12 step recovery programs as I really enjoy my addiction. Even my family does not want to save me because they enjoy the benefits from my catch. My friends don't want me to recover either because they wanna participate in the addiction with me. I have concluded there is no cure and that is absolutely fine with me.

I fish out of Washington's most southern port of Ilwaco. Many seasons under my belt fishing off the Columbia River and have been doing the tuna deal for about 6 years now. Purchased a 2680 Glacier Bay 2 years ago and it has really made offshore fishing a blast.

Tuna show up around our parts sometime in June and we immediately start whaling on them when they come in close enough. Last year was a banner year for the Oregon group and we hope for more of the same this season.

    Bernie

Fished out of a dory and froze my buns off on July 25th. Can't believe how cold it was and so foggy that you couldn't see a thing. Welcome to the site and good fishing.

When we start fishing in mid june I'll throw up some albie pictures. Not as exciting as down south with the mixture of species but the sheer numbers can be outragous. Last season some salty brothers 40 miles south of our grounds hooked tuna just three miles off the beach. Pretty incrediable for our area. We generally travel 27 to 60 miles out for a day trip to the tuna killing grounds. We get the peanuts now and then but our average fish is around 20. some days we have nothing but 20 to 35# fish. I do know of a couple of smaller bluefin that were landed last season. Largest was around 50 or so #'s. My dockmate did his maiden voyage run with me last year and boated a nice little exotic for our area. About a 7# yellowtail. Immediatly the wasabi and soy were out and the fish eaten. Couple of Mahi were also taken but the exotics are pretty rare for us.

Our water ranges from 56 to 65 degrees. I've caught albies in 56 degree water and 65 degree water. We start really looking at around 58.5
