    The Great Lobsta Roll Debate

Hey folks. Thanks for all those that gave my family hints on where to get the best lobsta roll on in New England. We spent Christmas week cruising around New England sampling food, hiking the mountains, collecting rocks and meeting some of Sf.com's finest. So who had the best lobsta rolls you ask. Here is what we came up with.

Connelly, NH - We were steered to D'angelos Sub shop by the bar tender at the Muddy Mose. The roll was OK. The bread was a simple sub roll not the butter grilled bread that it should have been on. The Meat was good but partially frozen. boooo!

The Maine Diner in Wells Maine - This place was suggested by Washashore

The Maine Diner served two types of Lobster Rolls. The cold salad type and the warm roll with butter and just Lobster Meat. My wife had the cold and really enjoyed it. She said that the Diner had the best Roll and Meat was plentiful and had a great taste. I had the hot roll and thought it was tied for the best roll.

First light tackle Nat came through at a Lobster Craving Moment. We were driving though Rowley when my wife said it was about roll time. I didn't recall any reccomendations so I thought I would check my blackberry and see if any had chimed in about that area. Low and Behold Nat had just logged on and suggested Choate Bridge Pub in Ipswich, Ma. We were less the 1/4 mile away. I went in and ordered up a couple rolls while she went to one of the local shop. The little pub had a great atmosphere. I wish I could have stayed but I had to keep rolling. This place served up the best cold roll by far. Thanks Ned for the reccomendation. BTW- First Light Tackle is awesome. We stopped by to thank Nat him personally

I was really looking forward to the next place since a few folks recommended BB&G in Clinton Ct. Madchark was the first and really wanted to thank him. This was the best lobster meat I had the whole trip and my wife actually voted this one her favorite. It was also the best atmosphere and had the nicest people.

Our last stop on the great Lobster Roll Quest was in Port Jefferson Long Island. He stumbled onto a place called the Port Jefferson Lobster House. We should have kept stumbing onto another place. No one finised their rolls. We knew now we were far enough south to keep trying.

Goes to show you that the good folks at Sf.com know what they are talking about. The best rolls came by way of reccomendation from sf.com'ers. The worst rolls were ones that we stumbled on.

Now can someone reccomend the best Cardiologist

Glad you guys got your fix of the lobstah. You'll have to come up in the summer and then you can spend a few weeks sampling the summertime shacks up and down the coast. Thanks for giving me a call, it was great to speak with you and I look forward to checking out some of your gear.

I think a little farther north Like Shoe said would be the hands down winners
in the spring we make an annual pilgrimage to Maine and the road side shacks provide csome of the best i have ever tried

I did a boat delivery once from Surry Maine and from the deserted landing i departed from there was a sole Vendor and not a customer in site !!

The fine Gent asked me what my pleasure was ,I said Lobster roll of course .
he then proceeded to fire off the water and toss one of the bottom feeders right into the water and 10 minutes later i was chewin

    Nothin beats Maine Lobster

also my wifes favorite is a little place in wells ,i Think ?

it is on dead end going to a large resteraunt and public landing
they have the paper towels on rolls hanging from the ceilings .

Something about lobster in Maine ,,,must be the Cold Water they live in or it is so far away you are starving by the time you get there ????

Glad to see that I gave you the right spot on the NE trip, always a nice feeling when your pick gets the thumbs up. As Capt. Mike stated that being next door with the charter boat we eat pretty well.
