There was a post a while back about Rum.
Several folks mentioned a brand that I was not familiar with.
I am a Mt. Gay on the rocks fan myself.
Enlighten me.

I'm a rum fan myself...like the taste, the drunk and the simplicity of it..it conjures up images of Hemingway, who liked it mixed with Coconut water and a few other ways like a Daiquiri......For me, it's one Ice cube and a half a lime...towards the end of the night I start adding a splash of club soda.....Being in Miami, many of the Rum brands are served...all the islands have their own labels, some have a few and the diversity of Miami's Latin population require them all to be served...but a few of the real deal Cuban joints down here have Anejo's that are imported and most of the bottles don't have labels.
Bacardi Anejo is very good...so is Havana Club..but I buy Ron Anejo Pompero for the house and for travel...truly great rum, not crazy expensive ($29) or overly sweet...I suggest it highly..
Yes.
I enjoy a dark and stormy now and again, the best one being at the stern of the Wound Up in a calm back bay in Bermuda.
Especially when the head Chef @ the Hamilton Princess makes the ice and rum delivery right to the dock.
All of which leads to a nice rum induced smile...
I've been know to hang out with the Captain and his friend Sailor Jerry as well, it doesn't take the fancy stuff to make this Polack happy.

Sir Francis Drake and pineapple juice is one of my favorites
2 fingers barbancourt 5 star, a large piece of block ice and the juice of half a lime.
wauwinet that sounds about perfect! Rum is my favorite, to the point where saying that I collect rums from around the world usually gets me corrected by someone pointing out that I collect empty bottles from around the world, so here are a few things I enjoy:
If you are going to mix with soda get a rum that stands up to the sweetness and go for the Kraken!
Mixing for company? Or breakfast? Equal parts cranberry, orange and either pineapple or grapefruit juice, pouring the cranberry into a tall glass over crushed ice first, then add the OJ and Cruzan Coconut and Mango rums to taste, top remaining juice choice, makes a really nice two-toned presentation and tastes great!
The choices for sipping or straight up would be either Pyrat XO or even better Dogfish Head Brown Honey Rum which has this really buttery finish. Chill the glass so as not to dilute.
