After two weeks of sitting in ol Castle Deep all alone I got my ValentinesDAy present. Missus and Mini returned home from South Africa where they have been for the last couple weeks.
Yeah its nice to have people company to talk to again. Yeah the possibility is out there that I can get lucky. One this is for certain though .... I'm gonna get fed some real food!
One more PBJ and I was ready to bust. Missus did an inventory of what we got and what we need and even after forty hours of travel getting home, she's already gone to the store. That boys and gals is why Missus Deep is my best catch...

I remember the day when I wouldnt perform in South Africa. We called it "I wont do sin city anymore." Those were the days, if only I could remember what it was about.

That was Little Stevens (Van Zant) movement... Sun City a decadent gambling enclave that threw big money around when all the anti apartheid crap was going on. Whats weird is Steve knew my wife and a few other South Africans well enough to know that apartheid was nothing like our press made it out to be.

Indeed the black didn't have the vote and there were places they were excluded but they had a pretty good pay off back then. They had free housing, electric, 70% of all jobs held in reserve for them. When Mandella took over they lost all that. Mandella dumped all the prisoners out of jail and crime went nuts. He opened the border and millions and millions from elsewhere in the continent flooded in. Tin cities littered the landscape. 50% unemployment, 30% inflation, disease and poverty took over over night.
Things have stabilized some but crime still out of control. Gangs rule the country. Police are inneffective. People have to hire their own armed security just to get through day to day life...
For the most part during apartheid you could sit in a bar with half black and half white patrons. All getting along. No racial tension. Indeed there were fringe issues but hell we have the klan still ugly and still there in this country still. The mingling doesn't happen much any more. The division lines are worse than ever...
