During the winter months out here in Cali, my attention shifts from fishing on the salt to targeting big bass on the sweetwater. We target fish over 10 lbs as nothing else matters. This year I kinda guided for buddies trying to get them their first double digit bass. Here's my buddy Johnny on the left with a 10.5 and that's Jesse on the right with a 7 and a 9 which they caught on my boat back in February:
My bass fishing mentor also got a 12 on my boat back in February:
I was pretty much resolved that I would be shut out on the double digit bass this year. I normally fish them from January through March, then shift to the salt. Then my mentor called and told me to get my stuff ready as we're going. Well I guess all the giving paid off as I was rewarded with this 12 lb 1 oz bass yesterday at Lake Perris, though it really feels like it's a kick off fish for the 2009 season:
Wishing you all a happy and prosperous New Year and may there be big fish for you all.
