    Hey Shoe,

I am sure that some of them were started or worsened by somebody with a cigarette or a campfire or something like that. The big one in 0ctober 03' ended up being blamed on a hunter that lit a flare because he was lost. Did he have something to do with it.....obviously.....was all that damage his fault...obviously not...

A lot of people don't realize that there are several plant species on the west coast that propegate by self combustion and every september and october that is exactly what they do and start a fire.....it just so happens that the amount of them increases the dryer the air is and so you add a big H in the Nevada or Utah mountains and forget it,,,,,,60mph dry dessert wind belowing into the SW of southern california local mountains, add a spark and BOOM...game on and hang on.... Of course it doesn't help that an Australian railroad millionare in the late 1800's and early 1900's brough Eucalyptus with him and planted it all over southern california.....Eucalyptus burns like damn kindlin'

This is the Third BIG outbreak in the last 10 years, and they always find someone to blame it on because if they admitted to it being mother nature.....god forbid then it would be an act of god and POOF a couple hundred million in damages not paid by homeowners insurance...Yea right,,,not likely.

So far no one I know is directly in danger of losing their home...hope it stays that way.

Just got this e-mail from my Aunt in San Diego who lives in Mira Mesa which is about 12-15 miles at most from the pacific ocean. They are on a possible evacuation order at any time. Just to let you know how serious this is for people out there, they live about 15 minutes drive without traffic from the San Diego Airport The fires are threatening to burn down to the ocean again in certain places like the Laguna fire a few years back. Really sad for some great people to be dealing with this.

Curtis - ok, cool video but next time warn me about the blood and guts! I'll show it to Kirk when he gets back from Houston tonight, if we don't get evacuated for the fires. So far Mira Mesa seems to be out of the path and I'm hoping it stays that way. They have the High School full to capacity with evacuees, so if it comes this way it will be a zoo getting out of here. I've packed up a bunch of stuff in the truck so if we do have to go we are ready. Take care, hugs and kisses for you and Brenna.
    Love,
    Cheryl

Just talked to a buddy and it's 500 houses lost today in San Diego county alone, and apparently they have evac orders in one of the coastal areas all the way to the beach

the tv news stated that the fire started from a utility pole somehow. i am wondering if the del coronado beach hotel is in any danger. i stayed there several years ago. it is a world class hotel. the whole world is watching. this is such a tragedy.

Hey Silent, I went to high school in Coronado and used to Bartend at the Del years ago....Most of my friends that were evacuated tue morning are actually staying with other friends in Coronado. It's an island with no brush in-between, so burning down is nearly impossible there

It's sucks how bad it is though.........
