As most of you know, I have been working on my outboard after destroying my lower unit and trying to get the boat back in the water before too much summer has past and for as little dammage to the back pocket as possible. I think I have everything in order but ( I'M IN NEED OF A GOOD PROP SHOP ! !) close to home around Delaware. With a different gearcase and smaller prop shaft I'm back to square one with the prop size I should use. I dont know if the gear change will turn the prop faster or slower, Or is the gear change to accomidate for the larger prop shaft and heaver props? I now can only run a 14.5 Dia. prop at max. I was running a 15 x 17 but turning too fast around 5900Rpms (Thank you ProHeat for the tip) So where is a good place to start? I would like to be able to find a prop shop that will let me try it before I buy it. 21ft6in CC total weight 2800-3000Lbs with a Evinrude 120Hp outboard. I'm thinking about a 14.5 x 19 or a 14.5 x 21. I know prop sizes can be a guessing game with soo many variables, just want a logical place to start.
i would recommmend MR Props in northeast maryland or Proper Pitch in slebyville delaware. have used both and bob at mr and scott at proper are both great guys.
I just rcvd the same recomendation for MR Props and called. No answer when I called but left msg. Have not heard back yet. How far is Shelbyville DE from Me in Bear?
selbyville is in the southern end of delaware close to the md line. Scott will do it by mail if you want. i got his number here somewhere and will see if i can find it for you.
