I learned yesterday that a very good friend that i was stationed with took his own life this past weekend. His mame was Trenton L. Wood and he was one of the people that if you had the pleasure of meeting him you would be touched for life with the personality he had. While I was stationed with Woody i had the chance to become close freinds with him and for that i am very thankful. I am deeply sorry that i let that friendship fade as we had not spoken in quiet some time. I wish the best for his son Hunter and wife Brooke. Rest in peace BIRD DOG.
Trenton L. Wood, 22, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham.
Trenton was born on November 28, 1984 in Richmond County, the son of Rev. Tony Wood and Janice Russell. A talented artist and musician, Trenton accepted God’s call to share his talent when he began singing solo at the tender age of seven. By the age of 10, Trenton had won the 1995 Hopper Talent Search at the North Carolina Singing Convention and later that same year the Soloist Talent Search at the National Quartet Convention. In 1996, on the nationally televised TBN program, Praise the Lord, Trenton continued to share his faith with the world and felt greatly honored when Bill Gaither invited him to appear on his “Homecoming Friends” video series in 1997. As a founding member of the group 3for1 and a former youth pastor at Freedom Baptist Church, Trenton shared the message of his heart and life through his words and song. With the exception of “I’ll be Back”, the songs on Trenton’s last CD contain lyrics composed by him alone. In addition to his music, Trenton also served his country through his service in the US Coast Guard. A devoted father to his young son Hunter, Trenton was currently employed as a supervisor with Perdue, Inc. and also a member of the Rockingham Masonic Lodge # 495 A.F. & A.M. It's tough to hear things like this. Ya never know what people are dealing with inside, especially the ones who have positive personalities. Sorry for your loss.

You are very fortunate to have known him and spent time with him. Memories can never be taken.
Bandit-
I'm from Rockingham, but I don't know the family. Sorry for your and the family's loss.
Had a close friend of mine do the same thing a week after my birthday eight years ago. I knew he was troubled and tried to help him and get the best professional help that money could buy...but it was to no avail. I still carry it with me to this day.
May God Bless....
