Good, bad or average WMO?
I've never fished the WMO, but would like to in the next year or two.
This year there were 856 billfish caught by 237 participating boats for an average of 1.2 billfish per boat per day. When you consider that there were probably some boats who did not fish all 3 days for mechanical reasons that average is actually higher. Then, you factor in the badly hungover crews and those who are either new to fishing or just clueless and the average catch for a well prepared and competant boat is even higher still.
Would you guys who are familiar with the tournament consider this a good, average or bad year in terms of numbers of fish caught?

Every Year brings something new with the WMO.
And ill be honest every year is a freaking blast.
One so many treat it as a vacation. Every night eating at sunset and having drinks at well a bunch of bars is a really nice aspect to catch up with people from up and down the coast.
On the fishing side, Well each year is different. Some years the whites slam in big numbers and other years the blue marlin.
This year Big Eyes 4 fish over 200 wow...
Whites were small. Not sure but i heard i think billfisher had 20 releases on Sat.
If you wnat to fish a event and you want to enjoy your self wmo is fun.
Also I am at the doc but i think it was pretty sporty out there this year from what i heard.

killing stuff cause it feels good
Weather was a bit of a factor this year. Fishing was fair for three days. Good for two. I was neither hungover or ill prepared but only had mediocre fishing. Last year I placed sixth in release points. This year something like 130th. There are alot of variables at play. I always like fishing the open and would recommend it to anyone. You have to do it at least once.
