Oyster season is about on us on the eastern shore. Oysters fritters are available at just about everyother church on the weekends. They won't keep until you get home but they sure do help pass the time. Get a peck of oysters for the wife

a peck is twice as much as a half peck
![]() It was probably coined here on the eastern shore. It probably started as a pack. a pack of oysters. but as you can hear sometimes the words just don't come out as clear here on the shore. so a pack probably became a peck. I have been told that is kinda how my town got its name. Tyaskin. it use to be a big harbor town. I have seen the old warf pics and it was quite bustling compared to the 18 houses and a post office that we have now. Supposedly the tides were a big factor on weather or not you could make it to the warf. so everybody was always asking about the tides. So some how it got to Tyaskin. |
