    gas protest

Don't know if this is true but figured I'd do my part. This is a copy paste from an e-mail.

Subject: Fw: Fwd: don't get gas on May 15th

in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices.
Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.

On May 15th 2007, we are asked to not go to a gas station in protest of
high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.

There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the yahoo network, and the
average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up.

If we did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,200,000,000.00 (that's BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day,
so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the
Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If you agree send it to all ur friends on ur list.

The only problem with that idea is that everyone still has to get to work or do their daily routine. If they need gas and they know they will be protesting the stations on the 15th then they will get gas on the 14th and the oil companies will still make their money.

It sounds like a good idea but when you think about it everyone would have to take the day off from work and loose a days pay.

No matter how much we hate gas prices, they have us by the balls and we will continue to buy it, even if it goes to 6.00 a gal. Theres no way around it.

I like the sound of that but since we burn 55 gallons an hour I think they would make out better.

If by "they have us by the balls" you mean our beloved gov't then you are right.

I saw something last weekend that really pissed me off. I was driving past Camp Lejune Marine Corps Base and happen to look at the price sign on the gas station ON BASE, AT THE MILITARY EXCHANGE. It was 7 cents more per gallon than the station 2 blocks away, OFF BASE. Of all places, the gov't should not levy fuel taxes on military bases. Piss on them for that. Those men and women come home from fighting for that shit and have to pay those kind of prices. It's not right.

    Sorry. Just my .02...

Amen brother! Boycotts sound like a great idea, but if it's light & slight, my dumb a$$ will be out there burnin' a ton of diesel and then drownin' my sorrow in an adult beverage.

Oil companies have us by the balls. Until someone figures out how to separate hydrogen from sea water, burn it in a fuel cell, and come up with an electric drive for sportfish boats, we just gotta bite the bullet......and hope that at least the fuel dock has a hottie in a bikini to make it all worth it.
