Depending on the amount of time it's been sitting around, I'd "polish" it a little by running it through a water seperator and filter, in that order. When my mother went to gas, I did the same with her old fuel oil, you'd be surprised the amount of crap, that's in there....

PS: I used the 2 qt, seperator and 2 qt. filter off my boat, and a 140 gallon per hour pump I bought on ebay, I got 2 gallons of shit/water/slime, and used a couple filters to get the job done.
