From Freshwater ...to Ocean
Greetings all!
First, to tell you about my background I'm an experienced angler of all Northern Ontario freshwater venues. OTOH I have a Dominican Republic vacation pending and with it, my first ever saltwater fishing venture. I'm sure much info can be learned here before taking that first plunge at sea. I welcome anything you might want to share about your saltwater fishing experiences. My intentions include at least one deep sea fishing outing and an experiment in fishing from a kayak closer to shore with my muskie rod. Looking forward to your responses. Tight Lines! ![]() wacky tambaqui |

Welcome to Sportfishermen.com!
I hope you will have a great trip to Dominican Republic. When you are back, make sure you post a report and pictures in our Big Game Fishing forum (deep sea) and in our new Kayak Fishing forum. Also I would enjoy pictures of your local freshwater catches. ![]() "tambaqui" is the name of an Amazon fish, but you probably know that ![]() Last edited by Jer; 10-04-2008 at 04:35 PM. |

Hey Jer,
Thanks for the pointers. I haven't had time to study all the contents of this Board yet but there seems to be a wealth of info for any angler here including the Freshwater section. I've seen the video of the guy catching a dorado from a kayak and it looks like an interesting idea. Hook up on one of those from a kayak and go for a Nantucket sleigh ride ![]() The resort where I'll be staying offers the free use of kayaks and other non-motorized water sport equipment to its guests. I'll definitely see about bringing my muskie rod. 6'3" long... hmmmm... we'll see what the airline company says. As for the next Northern Ontario trophy I catch, you'll hear about in the Freshwater section. Last edited by wacky tambaqui; 10-05-2008 at 10:43 PM. |
