Fresh shrimp on the Outer Banks
Years ago when my family would stay on the Outer Banks, we would drive down to the docks when the shrimp boats would come. We were able to buy shrimp directly off the boat for a lot less than the markets had them for. Being directly off the boat, you never knew what was going to be in with them. There were always squid and minnows. We used it for food and for bait. I was wondering is there anywhere that you can still do this? Maybe Wanchese or Hatteras? My family is going to Avon the last week of June, and I was just wondering.

Yes you still can. Several places in Wanchese, Graybeards down a dirt road on the way into Wanchese comes to mind, also turn on road into Wanchese seafood industrial park there is Oneals fish house down there, as well as Etheridges in Wachesee, also look on Craigs list during shrimping season can probably arrange to meet someone as they come in.

thank you
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I would rather give my money to the fishermen than the chain stores. If any of you are shrimpers, email me I will look you up the last week of June.
