I use a vaccum sealer. I had some tuna last night that was from last July and it was as good as fresh. When I freeze my fish I make sure that the meat is as dry as it can be. Then I vaccum seal it and it comes out great. In the past if I've sealed fish and it was wet or if my seal was not good it has gotten freezer burn or it just did not taste good. I got my vaccum sealer at Sam's Club and it was cheaper than any place else. Works great for bait too,
like squid and mackerel. For squid that I use on my bottom fishing trips, I clean the squid cut it into strips then put about 1 to 2lbs in a bag with a couple drops of shedder oil, seal it and put it in the deep freezer. Then I take just what I'm going to need for the day. Works well for me.![]()

I just ordered one that you can run water or disinfectant thru the pump to keep it clean. I'll let u know if it works. It wont be the first time $200 went for fishing or boating equipment that did not work. I think I'll start a new thread. Shit that don't work. Our own consumer reports.
What's that eppefour, starting a thread on wasted money in fishing or how much we spent all together on fishing. Because if that the case then I'll start crying. I could have a mansion and a porsche now. But noo I spent it all. This is how sick I am, when I was 15 going 16, I saved and spent $500+ on an Abel fly reel, but you know what; it works like brand new and I still use it every year.Originally Posted by eppefour
I figured out a long time ago that if I had all of my boating money back, Bill gates and I would probably have lunch together every day. But what the hell I don"t like him anyway. Did you ever notice the more u drink the harder it is to hit the keys?
I have a set of spurs line cutters I will sell u. I put them on my Egg harbor in the early 90's after I dove to cut line off the props in 58 degree water. They sold a 2 inch spacer to use if the space beween the shaft braces and the prop was not long enough. I needed the spacer, The first day out the shaft broke where it came out of the shaft log. I had new shafts made and the boats would not get on plane. Egg harbor said the longer shaft length was not effeicient for the boat. I have then here in a box if you want them

I bought a vacumm packer called a Vacupack http://www.vacupack.com/VacuFresh.htm
I have been happy. You can suck water through it after using to clean out the lines. I also have a non vacumm sealer that I use to bulk pack fish and also to package rigs etc to keep them dry and clean
use a vaccumm sealer and keep it out of tap water. cut out the dark line.
Eppefour that sealer you bought does make short time on the packing. Thanks for coming to Hinches and helping seal the flavor of fresh tuna, and a great idea to use the sealer to pack rigs.![]()
