StarTron is the shit. I've been using it for 2 yearsin all 3 of our boats and it is probably the top seller at our West Marine store.

Got mine too. Sorry I'm so late in saying Thanks.![]()
Can Star Tron replace products like Ring Free?
I just picked up a big bottle to get everything commissioned.
This forum works! I probably would not have tried it had I not read comments here, and gotten the direct feed-back from Bill - thanks!
I'm still curious if it Star Tron can replace products like Ring Free?
Kite,
Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, it replaces Ring Free - and Sta-Bil. I have a 225 Yamahama on my EdgeWater that has never tasted Ring Free, but has the cleanest insides you can imagine. (It also gets our 4-stroke oil instead of Yamahama lube, but that's another topic)
It will stabilize gas for at least 1 year, will remove gum , varnish and carbon deposits, and, because it makes fuel (even $%#^&*%$ ethanol) burn more completely, it eliminates new carbon deposits.
You need to add it whenever you add fuel to the tank; it gets used up along with the fuel. Luckily, it's not expensive and 8 oz treats 128 gallons (after the first dose)
We are conducting ASTM tests for all the guys who swear that it must be snake oil. But the real test is what you just did by adding it to the gas in your tank and seeing what happens. That is all that really matters in the long run.
Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate them all. I have no problem getting samples out as long as I get at least some feedback. We'll do this again with another product.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I am going to recommend my buddy w/ an Optimax try it as well. His plugs were pretty dirty when last pulled.
Is your Yam a HPDI?
You'll have to enlighten us on the use of 4-stroke oil as well...
