My best tuna story this year

As I passed by a the stern of another charter boat in my marina. The captain hollers at me " are you booked up tomorrow". I told him no and he hands me his phone and says take these guys fishing. So I talked to the guy and he says he wants to take his father and two young boys out fishing. He says that they would like to catch some bottom fish and then troll for some tuna. They meet me the next morning and away we go. On the way out the son that booked the boat ask if he can come up on the bridge. No problem, I like to have someone to talk to for that hour and half ride. He tells me a little about himself and his family. He then tells me his dad has cancer and really just wanted to get the kids out for their first time offshore. On Oct. 9th they were to do a new procedure on him called a chemo wash. Where they take out your organs and lay you open with chemo for two hours and then put your organs back.....Any how the son goes back down to the cockpit as we arrive to our spot. I say a little prayer to myself ,to have a good day for these people. Sure enough ,the first line hits the bottom and we limit out on tile fish in no time. Ok, lets go troll for tuna. I can see the fleet about two miles away. so we troll towards them. I can hear the guys on the radio getting bites, when I see a patch of grass. Yep, its full of dolphin. We bailed about a half limit and went back to trolling. We trolled and trolled with no bites for what seemed a long time. Once again I said to myself, Lord , we don't need much, but I would sure like to give this family a tuna..... Bam, one on the bar! Now this was funny to watch two kids, a son and his father all participate in catching this tuna.. What team work, two kids cranking ,the son holding the rod and the grand dad turning the chair. We only ended up with two tunas for the day. I don't know how the procedure turned out for the grandfather, but I can tell you this was my best trip of the year. Eventhough we didn't catch a box load of tuna or the biggest tuna of the year this was a great day and one I'll remember.

I don't care about the bar if I should win. Give it to someone that needs it. I've got a boatload of them.

Not trying to copy, it was never specified to use your own, just post a cool pic. Sorry if I was wrong.

yeah, he screwed up by sending it around before he figured out he could sell it.

Lets get this thread and generous offer back on track. Don't have many good tuna pics. The camera never seems to be handy when they are hitting the deck, and they are usually headless by the time they hit the dock

my best tuna trip this year was deff an awesome one......we left the dock early and werr fishing by sunrise....i put the spread out and 5 minutes later triple header of yellow fin tuna.....after getting 2/3 to the boat i put the spread back out and we troll around and the cedar plug goes screaming i tighten up the drag and it even goes faster....the dude grabs the pole and starts reeling...its get to the boat huge wahoo i scream.....it takes off one more time....but the dude said he was tired and just stopped reeling fish off....after that i put the spread back out and in front of us tuna are boiling on the surface going nuts....we cut through it and all 9 poles go off...holy shit what do i do....we got 5/9 of them in and they were all small bluefin....i just put the lines back in the water and 2 more poles go off....2 more 60 pound yellowfin....we ended up getting 12 yellowfin and lost another dozen....action all the the charter was wooped and asked to go in....sorry i have no pictures
