    Ford Truck Help...

    Okay guys,
    I have a 03 F-250 with the 5.4L

For some reason the truck its just not running right its hesitating and shaking pretty bad sometimes
No check engine light, oil is good, trans fluid is good, fires right up, no coolant in the oil, no smoke...

I just added Sea Foam fuel additive...ever heard of it or used it??

If any one has had one of these trucks and had similar problems let me know please. I have to make the drive to Hatteras next week to start fishing again and need to get this issue fixed asap.

And please dont turn this into a ford vs. chevy joke tread

    possible easy remedy

check the air filter housing......make sure the circular band clip that closes the housing around the domed air filter is secured.......

happened to one of my trucks years back and that clip coming loose cause similar problems was the culprit....

Change fuel filter, may have water in it and could be freezing.

    same problem

I have the same truck. It is an 03 f250 diesel. I added some diesel fuel supplement to the gas and soon after that a part called the "injector control sensor" went bad. It cost me about $400 for the parts and labor to fix. Sounds like the same problem but you never know with these trucks. I know I will never add a supplement to the fuel again. Dont know if that it what caused the problem or was just a coincidence.

Sounds like you have a misfire. It won't always set a check engine light. How many miles on it? Probably a bad ignition coil and depending on miles I would replace all eight spark plugs.

You can take it to a Ford dealer, and they can hook it up to the diagnostic machine. Even without the check engine light on, they can check what is called Mode 6 data, which records misfires, but it takes a certain amount of misfires to set the check engine light. They are still recorded in Mode 6 even without the light set.

One thing to try, put it in reverse, the E-brake on, step on the brake and rev the truck up to about 1500-2000 RPM's. If it is a misfire, it will most likely happen when revved up, because it puts the motor under a load.

PM me of ask on the thread if you need anymore help......

The truck has 74,500 miles on, but that is good to know that the check engine light will not come on right away, and I tried power braking it and I cant get it to misfire then, I have been driving it tryin to run through the fuel additive. I guess I'll head to the dealership on monday.
    Thanks bud
