    ???flyfishing the gunpowder river, MD

just wondering if anyone on here from the baltimore/annapolis area flyfishes the gunpowder. I just started tossing flys a few months ago and was hooked instantly the moment i got out there. Ive done amazingly well during the sulfur hatch but im struggling to find patterns that hit well late in the afternoon now that that is slowing down. Any idea's? Also i need spots that dont get butt crowded during the weekend. I generally get out to masemore or falls atleast a few afternoons during the week and one day during the weekend. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fish it all the time. The secret is to get out of the catch and release area and head downstream below below corbett road and beyond. MUCH bigger fish because the water is slightly warmer and allows black nose dace and suckers and all other kinds of baitfish to flourish. Streamers, streamers, and more streamers

You can't actually park at Corbett. The best thing to do is to park at monkton road where all the bikers and tubers park. Walk the trail up about 200 yards or so and fish back to the bridge at monkton road. Or take a bike(or walk) dowstream to the other areas. Try google earth or live maps and you can see all the good spots

I used to fish the C&R area a lot. This time of year Sulphur patterns #14 and sulphur emergers.

If they are not hatching bead nymphs and whooly buggers are hard to beat.

BTW my favorite streatch in spring and summer is from Bluemount Road upstream of the quarry. Rarely anyone else fishing.
