    Fluking 101

    Bait vs. Bucktailing.

Im relatively new to the site and Im looking to learn a little bit about fluke fishing. Since my knowledge about fluking is ziltch Im hoping some responses Ill get will help to put some fish in the boat.

In what situation would you use bait over bucktailing or vise versa?

Also when it comes to an attractor, what color's work best in what situations?

Any advise would be much appreciated.

If I can hold bottom with a 2oz or less jighead on a spinning rod, the leadhead gets a flounder belly strip. Fishing deeper, or where there is very heavy structure (or both)...I go to a slide rig or a three way rig and use large live bait or large strips of belly(or bluefish till you get a flounder to cut). If I had to pick a color for flounder day in day out it would be limetruese or chartruese, usually I fish a clean hook with no added hair or skirt though. For the jighead, yellow and round is my favorite. Any questions feel free to fire away.
    Good luck.

strip bait and keep it fresh. Use squid to catch the bait to strip out. In deep water, maybe a teaser in limetruce or white above the strip bait. A good running tide is perfect.
