Good point Captains. There are a lot of us either too busy or too lazy or whatever to do anything. Write a congressman, attend a meeting, try to keep up with what is being done by these lawmakers...WAIT!...that would take a rocket scientist to figure out. Some of us simply do not know what is going on for whatever reason. If someone like Deep C, who has, would help us understand in layman's terms how to make a difference it may help. Maybe people could post ideas of what letters should say to get the point across effectively. Also exactly who these letters should go to. Everybody who is unsure how to help but willing to help should reach out for advice...

    On a light note...
I guess I'll be the first to ask for assistance...Deep C, How do I get the Man o Wars to pop out of the envelopes?

Who to write to is easy, go to the MAFMC (mid atlantis fishery management council) website and write to the commissioners. Copy your congressmen and senators. These people have got to be held accountable for their serious mistakes. Turns out that the "Best available science" is shit!

In an article I read today their thinking (NMFS) was lower the size limits on fluke for commercial draggers to 14 inches so they will fill their quota faster stopping the dragging of fluke for the season earlier. Now come on here 14 inches so they will fill their quota faster. What kind of science is that? I get it. Do you? The problem here is the American public can not see through the water to asses what is happening to our fish stocks. With deer you can fly over head or set cameras or even count through field glasses. What we need is live cameras on the decks of these commercial boats so you can picture what comes aboard. Within the oceans and bays this phony data that is processed and spoon fed to the American public that is ever changing is a hard one to believe. This is why we don't have as many groups supporting the dismantling of NMFS. As fishermen we can tell a day of fishing, catching all small fish, that generations are lost with the phony data this organization has produced and regulated. Tons of 14 inch fish are removed by dragging but the American public is fooled and deceived, understanding that limits put in place on the rec fishermen are not doing there job. Now we could lose a fishery because the size limits on the commercial draggers of 14 inches was the wrong thing to do.You as fishermen know, not much dinner fare comes from a 14 inch fluke or sport.Wait Red Lobster has 14 inch fluke on their menu. We all no that NMFS has an agenda to serve all, so they say but where is their outlook for the future on this issue. They don't have one. Wait, we will put a regulation in place to restrict the rec angler from fishing for and retaining fluke. NMFS STOP THE DRAGGING EVERY DAY AND IT WILL REBOUND Take your scientific data and redefine the way you collect it. I hope this info that sheds light here will unite SFC and all guests that read the posts to put an end to this( flawed scientific number crunching). guessing game. You do not have to be a Harvard scholar to see what has been done at their (NMFS) watch.

There is no better way to get to them than to go to them directly. Go to www.NMFS.Noaa.gov then hit the contact us button. Write what you feel. Don't sugar coat but also don't get personal and nasty... Send to every person on that contact list. Then contact your congressman, senator, etc. Make enough noise and you will be heard...
You'ld be surprised how quick the higher ups in the organization jump and respond. No special tricks involved. Just be "We the people"...
Let them know that big lawsuits are being considered and you will join in on the class action if you don't see steps made in a positive direction...

with this type of mentality you will get nowhere with NMFS or NOAA . instead , how about a what can we do together type of program . by working together some of the problems can be resolved a little easier than just having the LETS GO TO COURT SYNDROM .

go ahead flame me now , in time you will relize I am right
